Raef bought his first guitar on eBay when he was a teenager, joining a band of musicians traveling across the country. He began sharing music with faith-based communities, eventually signing to "Awakening Records" and trailblazing Muslim Rock as a genre. His debut album went Platinum in Indonesia--which lead him to star in the popular TV series "Journey of a Backpacker," where he would explore the outdoors and local culture.
